🎨 Call for Artists: 2025 Rocket City Gift Card Design Contest

Presented by Huntsville Art Supplies

We’re inviting local artists to submit their original artwork celebrating Rocket City, Huntsville, Alabama — the home of innovation, creativity, and community! The winning design will be featured on our 2025 - 2026 Limited Edition Huntsville Art Supplies Gift Card.

This annual contest highlights the incredible talent in our city and gives one artist a chance to have their work seen (and shared!) by hundreds of art lovers.

🪐 Theme: “Rocket City, Huntsville”

Your design should capture the creative energy, innovation, or landmarks that make Huntsville special — from rockets and space to the arts, nature, or Southern charm. Think of this as your artistic love letter to Huntsville!

  • Deadline: November 10, 2025
  • Artwork Size: 5" x 3" horizontal (landscape orientation recommended)
  • File Type: JPEG or PNG, 300 DPI minimum

By submitting, artists grant Huntsville Art Supplies the right to reproduce their artwork up to 200 times for use on gift cards and promotional materials (digital and print). The artist retains full copyright ownership for all other uses.

  • Recognition as the Community Favorite across our channels.
  • Artwork displayed at Huntsville Art Supplies through the holidays. Option to sell prints of the winning design in-store (60/40 artist split)💫

📣 Selection Process

  • Staff Curation Round (Nov 11–14):Our team will review all submissions and select the Top 5 finalists based on creativity, originality, and connection to the Rocket City theme.
  • Community Voting (Nov 15–20):Finalists’ designs will be showcased on Facebook and Instagram, where the public can vote by liking or sharing their favorite entry.The design with the most combined likes and shares wins the People’s Choice Award.
  • Judges’ Selection (Nov 21):The Huntsville Art Supplies team will select the 1st Place Winner from among the finalists, taking into account creativity, composition, and how well the design represents Huntsville.
  • Winner Announcement (Nov 22):Both winners will be announced online and in-store!

  • Create your Rocket City-inspired artwork.
  • Save it as a high-resolution image (JPEG or PNG).

⚖️ Terms & Conditions

Eligibility:

This contest is open to artists ages 16 and older who live in or around Huntsville, Alabama. Employees or instructors of Huntsville Art Supplies are not eligible to participate.

Submission Requirements:

Each participant may submit one (1) original artwork inspired by the theme Rocket City, Huntsville. Artwork must be the artist’s original creation and free from any third-party rights, logos, or copyrighted materials. AI generated artwork is not eligible. Submissions must meet file specifications outlined on the Call for Artists page.

Copyright & Usage:

Artists retain full copyright ownership of their original artwork. By submitting an entry, the artist grants Huntsville Art Supplies a non-exclusive license to reproduce the submitted artwork up to 200 times for use on printed gift cards, digital promotional materials, and related marketing for the 2025 - 2026 Rocket City Gift Card program and subsequent years for promotional purposes.

The artist’s name and artwork title will be credited wherever feasible. No other royalties or fees will be provided beyond the stated prizes.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $300 Huntsville Art Supplies Gift Card + featured artwork on the 2025 - 2026 limited edition gift card.
  • People’s Choice: $100 Huntsville Art Supplies Gift Card + recognition as the community favorite.

    Prizes are not redeemable for cash and must be used in-store or online at Huntsville Art Supplies (Huntsville Art Supplies does not ship).

Selection & Voting:

Finalists will be chosen by Huntsville Art Supplies staff. The public voting process will take place on Huntsville Art Supplies’ social media pages, where votes will be determined by total likes and shares. Huntsville Art Supplies reserves the right to verify results and ensure fairness.

The 1st Place winner will be selected by a judging panel based on creativity, composition, and adherence to theme.

Deadline & Announcement:

Entries must be received by November 10, 2025. Winners will be announced November 22, 2025.

Agreement:

By submitting an entry, artists agree to all terms listed above and consent to the use of their name, artwork, and likeness for promotional purposes related to this contest.
