Fun in the Sun! Summer Art Camp
☀️ A Creative Summer Adventure for Young Artists! 🎨
Let’s soak up the sun and get creative! This three-day summer art camp is designed for kids ages 8-up who love hands-on art projects inspired by summer fun. Each day will feature exciting activities that explore color, texture, and light—perfect for young creators who want to experiment with different art techniques.
Workshop Details:
• Dates: June 30 - July 2, 2025
• Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
• Location: Studio 269 & 270, Huntsville Art Supplies
• Ticket Price: $225 for All three days, Supplies included
• Maximum Class Size: 12
• Minimum Class Size: 4 (If less than 4, the class will be canceled and fees refunded.)
Daily Schedule:
🕘 9:00-9:30 AM – Meet & Greet, Introduction to the Day’s Lesson
🖌 9:30-10:30 AM – Demonstration & Hands-on Artmaking
🍎 10:30-10:45 AM – Snack & Bathroom Break
🎨 10:45-11:45 AM – Continue Project or Start a New One
🧹 11:45 AM-12:00 PM – Clean Up & Pack Up
What You’ll Create:
Each day, you'll explore new art techniques and experiment with different materials to create one-of-a-kind artwork! Depending on the weather, you may work on projects in:
🎨 Air Dry Clay – Sculpt, shape, and decorate unique clay creations.
✨ Glass & Metal Crafts – Design beautiful sun catchers, lanterns, and mixed-media pieces.
🖨 Printmaking – Experiment with techniques like Styrofoam plate prints, monoprints, and more!
🖌 Painting – Express your creativity using watercolor, acrylic, or oil pastels to bring your ideas to life.
Every project is designed to encourage creativity, exploration, and fun, making this an exciting hands-on experience for all young artists!
What to Bring:
• A drink and a snack each day

About the Instructor:

Beth McKay is a certified art teacher and artist at Lowe Mill. She began her formal art training at the University of Montevallo in 2002 with a concentration in painting and a minor in graphic design. She earned her degree in Art Education from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2018 to foster the love of art in young minds. She has been an elementary art teacher in Huntsville City Schools for 7 years and currently teaches art at Ridgecrest, Farley, and Monte Sano Elementary schools. She has been creating art for over 25 years, is a member of the ALWCA, and is a working artist with a studio at Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment in Studio 261. Her preferred mediums include oil, watercolor, and screenprinting.
